Rode my 2005 R6 (sprocketed too) from Minneapolis to Alexandria MN.

About 140 miles, it went well minus the fact it was a little windy on some parts of the ride. I thought it would suck a lot more than it did.

Enjoy this Ducati as a reward for looking here.

Thank you for writing in. I assume you speak of a Yamaha? I have consulted some of the brightest people in the business. I will paraphrase what Dear Abbey said. "Do not try to ride 140 miles at 160 mph". Allow yourself time to take deep breaths and enjoy the flowers along the road side.

I kept it civil, mostly. Since I'm sprocketed without a healer 100 indicated is about 88. It's not fun riding over 100 for longer than a few seconds because it's so windy.

That's awesome! More long trips to come?

Well my bike is a pure slut that I do not care about remotely in terms of mileage or anything so hopefully. I'll probably try to avoid main highways though because I sat in 6th 95% of the time I'd say.

My longest ever ride was 16,ooo miles. Of course, it took me three months to do it, but I think the most I ever did in a single day in the saddle was 1,000. I used to be an ironbutt, although I never did get a chance to compete in one.

If I was doing 1000 miles a day I'd HAVE to get something more upright, after an hour or so my neck starts to hurt.

Yeah, I think it was on a VFR 750. The 16k was on a FZR1000 though. I cheated a little and got some bars that brought the riding position back and up about 1 inch each .

What does having a "sprocketed" bike have to do with the story? Are most long rides taken with shaft drives now? Just asking.

Sprocketed as in different gearing from the stock sprocket sizes, I sit at a considerably higher RPM while cruising. About 1.5/2k higher.
